We NEED You (Joining Leadership is Totally Hip!)

We are still looking to fill the important positions of Membership, those who would like to join the Illustrious Pollinator Garden Team, Events Coordinator, and Fundraising Lead. Contact us Here if you're interested in serving on the 2024-25 Leadership Team. We have one 1.5 hour meeting a month with a fabulous team of community-minded leaders who have a lot of fun! Join Us!

Let us Know if You're Returning!

  • Please help us plan for next year and let us know if you plan to return Here. It is very helpful to know who will be returning so we can start 2025 knowing how many plots we can offer to new gardeners. We have a Waitlist every season so let us know if you'll be reserving your plot!

End of 2024 Season Survey

Thank you to those of you who have sent in feedback. We really appreciate your helpful comments and plan to incorporate them into our planning sessions for the 2025 season. Initial feedback shows gardeners struggled with grasshoppers, beetles, bindweed, and a lot of hot days! Some gardeners requested more access to compost, manure and soil amendments. Other gardeners requested more workshops focused on composting and mulching and opportunities to learn from experienced gardeners. A new gardener commented "I learned a lot about gardening since it was my first year. Met some wonderful people who helped answer many questions. It's just a beautiful place to visit and very therapeutic."

If you haven't done so, please provide constructive feedback on your season and helpful suggestions for the 2025 season Here. We really appreciate your input!

Produce Donation Update

Around 140 pounds were picked up from the barn by Shelley with Veggie Van this month. Last year we donated 476 pounds, and this season we will be donating well over 1,300 lbs! Congrats gardeners! Thank you for sharing your harvest!

Plaques in Memorium

We are working on selecting memorial designs to honor Gardeners Richard Jacoby and Sue Donaldson, major contributors to the garden who have passed. We look forward to incorporating honorary memorial elements into our garden, a place that has become sacred for many.

Garden Gratitude

Thank You to Dumpsters.com

We are especially thankful to Dumpsters.com for donating the use of a Dumpster for our use this season. Dumpsters.com is a waste management company that specializes in dumpster rentals and other site services. The company offers tips for sustainable waste management, such as going paperless, looking for renewable options, donating, recycling, and composting. The company's blog provides information on sustainable waste disposal, including a guide dedicated to getting rid of yard waste. We recommend you check it out! For more visit: https://www.dumpsters.com/about/company.

Thank you to King Soopers

In a community fundraiser, where bags were bought at King Soopers to support the garden, we raised a total of $529, which was, in fact, our main fundraiser of the season. We are so appreciative to be included in the program and would love help with planning fundraisers in the future if you are a gardener who has those skills would like to give back in that way.

Why We Garden

King Soopers asked what sets us apart from other community organizations. We shared that the healthy benefits of organic gardening are enjoyed by community of all generations and many walks of life. Gardeners grow and donate thousands of organic produce to community in need, including the Veggie Van and Arvada Food Bank. Gardening allows an integrated community to enjoy the benefits of spending time in nature together, improving both physical and mental health. Those walking by the garden on the community path through the City Hills at Standley Lake park enjoy the lush greenery and diverse Pollinator Garden, and master gardeners love to share their knowledge with new and seasoned gardeners in workshops and through garden mentorship. Younger generations are educated on how to grow and prepare healthy nutritious foods and Rose Roots partners with Denver Urban Gardens and the City of Arvada to serve a larger community. These are the reasons we love organic gardening with Rose Roots Community Garden!

Upcoming Events

October 26, 9-1 pm Final Garden Work Party and Potluck BBQ. We will provide the grilling food and we are excited to have live guitar music from the Mason Brothers.

We look forward to seeing you next season!

Happy Harvest Season,
