Quadrant Work Crews

Work Crews keep our garden well maintained, functional, and growing community. We have divided the garden into quadrants so the work load is more evenly distributed and no one is doing all the pathway weeding while another is doing the compost or Food Forest.  If you'd like to be a Quadrant leader, contact us at leadership@roserootsgarden.org.

If your plot is located in the South West Quadrant, the following will be the responsibility of all plot holders in that area:

● Pathways

● Weeding Cooks Companion Bed

● Weeding and maintaining the Medicinal Food/Food Forest Bed.

If your plot is located in the South East Quadrant the following will be the responsibility of all plot holders in that area:

● Pathways

● Children’s Garden (under the teepee)

● Weeding and maintaining the Food Forest

If your plot is located in the North West Quadrant the following will be the responsibility of all plot holders in that area:

● Pathways

● West shed-weeds around the shed and tidying up the shed.

If your plot is located in the North East Quadrant, the following will be the responsibility of all plot holders in that area:

● Pathways

● East shed-weeds around the shed and tidying up the shed

● Children’s play area

The large main pathways in the middle of the garden we will try to keep weeded with Gardener Work days. There will be a quadrant leader who will communicate to the Crew Leader when areas need attention. This will then go out in an email or the quadrant leader will post it on the white boards in the appropriate shed. Your 12 hours of service to the garden can then be completed on a schedule that is convenient for you.

Quadrant leadership involves nothing more than being observant of what needs attention and writing it on the board or sending us an email. No policing involved! If this is something you can help with, please contact us. This is a great way to get your 12 service hours in per season!

Composting:  Please cut or chop your vegetable debris into smaller pieces (no more than 8 in.) to lighten the load on the compost crew. In addition, everyone will be required to help out for 2 hours a season on compost. If you have physical limitations, please do let us know and we will work around it.
Many hands will make the work load less. If you have any questions or concerns email us.
Thank you for all your hard, hard work in keeping our garden beautiful and productive throughout the year!!
